At 6:30 on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, students from Hamilton Township High School will lead a Komen Columbus Race for the Cure flash mob at the Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio. This flash mob is organized with Easton’s cooperation and is intended to encourage people to sign up for the Komen Columbus Race for the Cure.

If you would like to join the HTHS students, please practice the dance, show up in pink on May 11 by 6:15, then position yourself on the sides of the inside food court–away from the middle where the core group will be. Keep the dance family-friendly and calmly walk away when finished or get in line to register for the Race for the Cure.

First Song: Cha Cha Slide.

FREEZE when you hear “Freeze!” Then, clap with the beat until everyone’s in place.

**Note — only do the SECOND part of the singer’s directions!! Someone will be doing the first part.

Second Song: S & M (broken down by 8 counts).

1. Grapevine right (1,2,3,4), pump up and down & say “RACE FOR THE CURE “(5,6,7,8).

3. Arm shoots out in a fist and legs pop out, RIPPLE! Ripple 1 goes on (1,2), ripple 2 goes on (3,4), ripple 3 goes on (5,6), EVERYONE nods on (7,8).

4. Cross arms in front of body, left knee up (1,2), cross arms in front of body, right knee up (3,4), wave (5,6,7,8).

6. Everyone bobs up and down (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8).

7. Turn forward while saying RACE FOR THE CURE, RIPPLE!! Ripple one turns on RACE, ripple 2 goes on FOR, ripple 3 goes on THE, everyone shouts and jumps CURE!

Fourth Song: Footloose.

Everyone goes to the middle of the food court and makes an arc. Random students will do free style dances in the middle. After the music goes “everybody cut, everybody cut” you will then say “SIGN UP!” At the end, it will say “everybody cut footloose.” You are to then run in to the middle and crouch down low.

The music will end with the Black Eyed Peas’ song. At this point, do a slow-motion run towards the sign-up table and point at the last beat.

This was an incredible event that gave inspiration to those fighting the terrible disease of Breast Cancer, and also hope for a much brighter future for all of our children and future generations. The best part of the day was meeting so many cool people, and sharing the collective energy created when we unite in Doing Good.
