My name is Meagan. On October 25-26 2008 I will be walking 39 miles in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. In order to participate I must raise at least $1800.While brainstorming for ways to raise money me and my friend Noni decided to write a song and make a music video. As a tribute, fundRAZOR and awareness method I will be getting a mohawk when I reach my goal… hence CURLS For A CURE.

If you would like to donate please visit www.avonwalk.org/meaganbetts

UPDATE!
My walk was a success and the mohawk was a beut! The walks and cause have had such an impact on my life that I will be walking all 9 cities. I am the youngest person to ever sign up for that! I am required to raise at least $1800 to walk so I must raise at least $16,200 to walk all 9. Your support is so appreciated!
Please visit www.avonwalk.org/meaganbetts to be a part of my mission to end breast cancer and/or to learn more!

See this girl to my right
she came over for the night
and she was telling me about a little project
for all you boys and all you girls
pay attention to those curls
they’re more important to our world
than you might expect
it’s called curls for a cure
chopping hair to fight cancer
and every dollar snips a lock
brings her closer to a mohawk
the donations we collect
all go to the little project
called the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer
39 miles in hot weather
and your feet get tired
and it’s hard to do
doing that charitable thing you do
but she’s gonna pull through
with some help from you
in other words
Meagan said she’ll shave her head
help fund for the walk
and she’ll get a mohawk
you might call her crazy
but the girl ain’t lazy
she’s a philanthropist baby
she do it on the daily
oh, just look at the smile on her face
it says, “I’m going to save second base.”
y’all this is literally a headcase
get our your dough
there’s no time to waste
but all sillyness aside
if you want to help to provide
a little goes a long way
you could save a life today
and if you’re looking for a better you
well this gal might be just a step ahead of you
well come on and meet her at the finish line
cuz it don’t take much time
and we don’t have much time

Go Pink! Walk Against Breast Cancer
May 17, 2009 – According to media reports, approximately 2,000 people participated in Skopjes first annual breast cancer awareness walk, Go Pink! Local NGO partners BORKA and Integrity Alpha Omega co-hosted the event, with sponsorships from the Agency of Youth and Sport, the Ministry of Health, Avon, Syscom, Infomedia, Alkaloid, most major media stations, and others. All told, the event raised more than 350,000 MKD, which will go towards renovating a chemotherapy clinic for women with breast cancer.

Cancer does not recognize national boundaries, ethnicities, or religions. It can strike anyone. The May 17 walk was a chance for people of all ages to walk together to raise funds for the health of their mothers, their wives, their sisters, and their daughters. If we work together to fight this disease, we nurture the common interests and values that we share as human beings. The fight against breast cancer is important for all of us.
Ambassador Reeker opened the event by welcoming the crowd. He said, Your volunteerism is changing lives. When you walk today, you are taking a stand. You are standing up and saying that you can be counted upon to help. This project is part of the strategic partnership agreement between the U.S. and Macedonia. The Embassy would like to thank all of those who supported this event and came out and participated.
