Curls for a Cure
06 Jun 2010
My name is Meagan. On October 25-26 2008 I will be walking 39 miles in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. In order to participate I must raise at least $1800.While brainstorming for ways to raise money me and my friend Noni decided to write a song and make a music video. As a tribute, fundRAZOR and awareness method I will be getting a mohawk when I reach my goal… hence CURLS For A CURE.
If you would like to donate please visit www.avonwalk.org/meaganbetts
UPDATE!
My walk was a success and the mohawk was a beut! The walks and cause have had such an impact on my life that I will be walking all 9 cities. I am the youngest person to ever sign up for that! I am required to raise at least $1800 to walk so I must raise at least $16,200 to walk all 9. Your support is so appreciated!

See this girl to my right
she came over for the night
and she was telling me about a little project
for all you boys and all you girls
pay attention to those curls
they’re more important to our world
than you might expect
it’s called curls for a cure
chopping hair to fight cancer
and every dollar snips a lock
brings her closer to a mohawk
the donations we collect
all go to the little project
called the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer
39 miles in hot weather
and your feet get tired
and it’s hard to do
doing that charitable thing you do
but she’s gonna pull through
with some help from you
in other words
Meagan said she’ll shave her head
help fund for the walk
and she’ll get a mohawk
you might call her crazy
but the girl ain’t lazy
she’s a philanthropist baby
she do it on the daily
oh, just look at the smile on her face
it says, “I’m going to save second base.”
y’all this is literally a headcase
get our your dough
there’s no time to waste
but all sillyness aside
if you want to help to provide
a little goes a long way
you could save a life today
and if you’re looking for a better you
well this gal might be just a step ahead of you
well come on and meet her at the finish line
cuz it don’t take much time
and we don’t have much time

If you had the chance, what would you say to cancer? Have a candid look at what a group of LIVESTRONG Challenge participants of all ages and all walks of life had to say to cancer, if given the chance. Without a script, we knew anything could happen; and it did. All of our participants have real cancer connections, making their fight with cancer both real and emotional. Join the fight. www.livestrongchallenge.org
