The Avon Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer began in 2005 bringing grassroots activism to a global scale. This worldwide series of events began mobilizing hundreds of thousands of people across the globe raising money and breaking down barriers to awareness and access to care while working to eradicate the disease.

This year, I'll be participating in a very special event called the Breast Cancer 3-Day.
I'll walk 60 miles over the course of three days with thousands of other women and men. The net proceeds will support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund.

The reason that me and my co-workers have chosen to participate in this event, is that in February we lost our boss, co-worker and friend, Bonnie, to this very terrible disease. She was such a wonderful, vibrant, caring person who was taken away from her family entirely too early, as is the case with all women who have passed away from this terrible disease. So, my teammembers and I want to help to do our part to help other families from losing their loved ones to this terrible disease.
According to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, approximately 200,000 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and nearly 40,000 will die from the disease. That's why I'm walking so far. To do something bold about breast cancer. I hope that you'll share this incredible adventure with me – by supporting me in my fundraising efforts.

I'm doing a 4 mile walk for cancer but I wanted to know, do people run at these things? Because I'm not a runner myself but I dont want to be the only one walking…
i've done the "walk to end breast cancer" many times (i'm only 13) and there are two categories for running and walking. The people who sign up to run start first and they have their own little lane and then everyone else starts the walk a few moments afterwards. i'm sure you won't be the only one there who's going to be walking.
