Does anybody else find this just greedy. I understand its for a charity and good cause, but theres no way I can participate now?
I think you're supposed to ask for donations. I'd hope anyway.
I was right. You can also get a group of people together to split the donation amount. You don't pay yourself, you get donations. You need to register first and the site also has a list of donators and you can get your own.

2009 Mar 24 2whoa… any idea how much cancer treatment and research costs?????? Those walks arent just for everyone to have fun, they are there to raise enough money to actually do something with. And since its a third party, the charity has to also pay its over head as well as funding research and treatment.

2009 Mar 24 3As a cancer patient, I tend to agree with you. Sadly, I am finding that many cancer charities are now getting over zealous, and tend to forget that the people that set them up did so for a purpose. Yes, they have to raise money; yes, there are overheads. But I think that there should be a 'suggested donation' clause, listing how much it costs the charity to organise the event, but then say that everyone is welcome.
On my website http://www.after-cancer.com I list Events connected with cancer charities. I would certainly like it if you would leave a comment about any events that overcharge to taking part – except for some events that are purposely aimed at big corporations – and they charge a high fee.
